Annex 8 refers to M.R.1 for the “H” point procedure

New footnote 1 in Annex 8 says that Addendum 6 of Mutual Resolution No. 1 (M.R.1), document ECE/TRANS/WP.29/1101/Amend.5, describes the procedure. The definitions, requirements and steps in Annex 8 to find the “H” point and the actual torso angle are deleted. Deleted paragraph 3.2.2. accepted an “H” point within a 50 mm square, with horizontal and vertical sides, whose diagonals intersect at the “R” point. The actual torso angle also had to be within 5° of the design torso angle. A deleted footnote covered seating positions other than front seats where the “H” point cannot be determined with the 3-D H machine or procedures. For these positions, the “R” point indicated by the manufacturer could be taken as a reference at the discretion of the competent authority.

The procedure is described in Addendum 6 of Mutual Resolution No. 1 (M.R.1) (document ECE/TRANS/WP.29/1101/Amend.5); see https://unece.org/transport/vehicle-regulations/wp29/resolutions

These appendices described the 3-D H machine, the three-dimensional reference system and the reference data for seating positions. Footnotes with references to SAE, ISO Standard 6549-1980 and ISO 4130 :1978 are also deleted.
