End of approvals to this Regulation (para. 14.1.)
Contracting Parties applying this Regulation must cease to grant approvals to this Regulation. This applies as from 24 months after the official date of entry into force of UN Regulation No. [RID]. A new footnote refers to the new UN Regulation on Road Illumination Devices (RID) (ECE/TRANS/WP.29/2018/158/Rev.1).
Extensions and devices for replacement (paras. 14.2. to 14.4.)
Contracting Parties must not refuse to grant extensions of approval to this and any previous series of amendments. Under paragraph 14.3., approvals to this and any previous series continue for devices intended as replacements for fitting to vehicles in use. Under paragraph 14.4., fitting or use of replacement devices approved to any previous series must continue to be allowed on vehicles in use.
Earlier paragraphs 14.1. to 14.5. deleted
This series deletes the earlier paragraphs 14.1. to 14.5. Old paragraph 14.4. said that existing approvals for front fog lamps already granted under the preceding series of amendments remain valid indefinitely. The new paragraphs 14.1. to 14.4. do not repeat this text. The other old paragraphs covered the 04 series of amendments, Class B and Class F3 front fog lamps and existing testing equipment.

A twenty-four month transitional period was proposed for all existing Regulations. This period would give the Contracting Parties, their competent authorities and the industry enough time for three tasks. One task is to finish or reorganize the current developments based on the existing text. The other tasks are to eliminate possible misunderstandings and errors in the new Regulation text, and to introduce modified markings.
