UN R124 — Supplement 2 to the 00 series of amendments

Supplement 1 → 2

Adopted at the WP.29 183rd sessionEntry into force 2021-09-30
What changed
  • In the Annex 8 impact test, the acceptance criteria now name “total loss of inflation pressure due to tyre depressurization” instead of “any loss of inflation pressure”.
Why
  • The purpose is to align the acceptance criterion in the table in Annex 8, paragraph 3, with the negative rating criterion in paragraph 5 (c).
  • The change clarifies that only a complete pressure decrease in the tyre due to its depressurization is a negative evaluation criterion in an impact test.

Q1What changed1 change

Acceptance criteria of the impact test (Annex 8, para. 3)

In the acceptance criteria of the Annex 8 impact test, “any loss of inflation pressure” now reads “total loss of inflation pressure due to tyre depressurization”. The words “within one minute of completing the test” stay the same.

The test shall be considered satisfactory if there is not any visible fracture penetrating through the wheel surface and if there is not any total loss of inflation pressure due to tyre depressurization within one minute of completing the test. Fractures and indentations caused by the direct contact with the falling weight are acceptable.
