Base text → Supplement 1

Adopted at the WP.29 185th sessionEntry into force 2022-06-22
What changed
  • If the second seat row consists of a seat or seats permanently facing rearwards, paragraph 5.3.3. now disregards these seats.
  • Then the requirement for at least one of the two ISOFIX positions systems applies to the first consecutive forward facing seat row, if available.
Why
  • The proposal aims to clarify the requirements for the location of ISOFIX systems in case the vehicle type is equipped with rearward facing seats.
  • UN Regulation No. 145 seems to take only forward-facing seats into consideration, but this is nowhere stated.

Q1What changed1 change

Second seat row with seats permanently facing rearwards (para. 5.3.3.)

The first sentence stays: notwithstanding paragraph 5.3.1., at least one of the two ISOFIX positions systems must be installed at the second seat row. A new sentence covers a second seat row that consists of a seat or seats permanently facing rearwards. These seats are disregarded, and the requirement then applies to the first consecutive forward facing seat row, if available.

Notwithstanding paragraph 5.3.1. at least one of the two ISOFIX positions systems shall be installed at the second seat row. In case the second seat row consists of a seat or seats permanently facing rearwards, they are disregarded and this requirement then applies to the first consecutive forward facing seat row, if available.
