UN R22 change reports — Protective helmets and visors
UN Regulation No. 22 (ECE R22) — Uniform provisions concerning the approval of protective helmets, of their visors and of their accessories for drivers and passengers of motorcycles and mopeds.

Annex 20 now defines a rigid speaker simulator in two sizes: 40 mm and 45 mm in diameter.

The Regulation now also applies to the accessories to be fitted to protective helmets or intended to be added to them.

Only accessories evaluated during the type approval procedure of the helmet can guarantee that the type approval covers the modified helmet’s performance.

New paragraph 7.13. adds an oblique impact test with limits for the peak resultant rotational acceleration (PRA) and the Brain Injury Criterion (BrIC).
