Q1What changed5 changes
Scope and the list of excluded tyre types (para. 1.)
The Regulation applies to new pneumatic tyres designed primarily for vehicles of category L. It does not apply to the tyre types in paragraphs 1.1. to 1.3., and approvals to this Regulation must not be granted to them. Paragraphs 1.1. and 1.2. name tyre types designed exclusively for the “off road” use that are marked “NHS”, and tyre types designed exclusively for competitions. Before this supplement, the scope said “for vehicles of category L” without “designed primarily”. One sentence excluded these two tyre types, and it did not mention approvals.
Tyre types designed exclusively for bicycle rims excluded (para. 1.3.)
New paragraph 1.3. adds tyre types designed exclusively to be fitted on types of bicycle rims according to ISO 5775-2:2021 to the excluded tyre types. The Regulation does not apply to these tyre types, and approvals to this Regulation must not be granted to them. Before this supplement, the scope did not exclude these tyre types.
