UN R85 change reports — Measurement of the net power and the 30 min. power
UN Regulation No. 85 (ECE R85) — Uniform provisions concerning the approval of internal combustion engines or electric drive trains intended for the propulsion of motor vehicles of categories M and N with regard to the measurement of the net power and the maximum 30 minutes power of electric drive trains.

- 00 series — Supplement 14
In Annex 6, paragraph 2.5.1., the net power test now uses maximum acceleration demand instead of the accelerator control set at the maximum position.
- 00 series — Supplement 13
New text in Annex 6, Table 1 says: “In the case that the liquid-cooling pumps are electrically driven, an external circuit including pump, radiator and thermostat in relative positions which differ from those in the vehicle can be used provided that the pressure loss of this circuit and/or the volume flow of the pump remain substantially the same as those of the drive train cooling system of the intended application”.
- 00 series — Supplement 12
A new sentence in paragraph 5.2.3.4., for compression ignition engines and dual-fuel engines, says: “In the case that testing for emissions according to UN Regulations Nos. 49 and/or 24 is conducted at the same time as testing to this Regulation, at the request of the manufacturer the same fuel for testing emissions may be used for testing to this Regulation”.
- 00 series — Supplement 11
Annex 6 now also applies to electric drive trains used as the sole mode of propulsion of HEVs, at least for part of the time.
- 00 series — Supplement 10
Power at each speed may be measured at a set charge air cooler outlet temperature if the manufacturer requests and the type approval authority agrees.
- 00 series — Supplement 9
In Annex 5, Table 1, footnote 1b, the case "two-stroke and positive-ignition engines" now reads "two-stroke engines".
- 00 series — Supplement 8
Under paragraph 5.3.1.3., the motor must run on the bench for three minutes immediately before the test, at a power equal to “either 80 per cent of the maximum 30 minutes power or 80 per cent of the maximum peak power”.
