New paragraph 24.25bis. applies notwithstanding paragraphs 24.23 and 24.25. Contracting Parties must continue to accept type approvals to the preceding series for vehicles, equipment or parts not affected by the 04 series. A further one says that, as from 1 September 2024, they need not accept type approvals issued to the preceding series. Before this supplement, the Regulation had no paragraph 24.25bis.

Reasons

  • NGVA Europe tabled GRSG-124-32 to accept the type approvals according to the preceding series when not affected by the new series of amendments. At WP.29, the Chair of GRSG stated that the aim was to insert transitional provisions in the 04 series for this purpose.

  • Proposer's reason (informal document GRSG-124-32)

According to the proposal, all series of UN Regulation No. 110 but the 04 series contain a transitional provision of this kind. This provision accepts the type approvals according to the preceding series when the new series does not affect them. The proposal lists paragraph 24.3 (01 series), 24.13 (02 series), 24.20 (03 series) and 24.30 (05 series). It says that such a provision is needed also for the 04 series because the 04 series is still in force.

Submitted by Experts of NGVA Europe. Working party adoption: ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/103, para. 21.
