Supplement 1 → 2
- What changed

- Why
- Paragraphs 5.3.1.1., 5.2.13. and 8.3.1.1. of UN Regulation No. 116 use three different wordings for the same intent: protection of normal use of the vehicle/powertrain/engine.
- The proposal aims to clarify the difference between using the engine as a power source for motion and for another use, for example heating.
Q1What changed1 change
“Engine as a motive power” in the steering provision (para. 5.2.1.1.)
Paragraph 5.2.1.1. now says “Before the engine as a motive power can be started” instead of “Before the engine can be started”. The same sentence now says that the normal steering operation “must” be restored, instead of “shall”. Its first sentence on the device acting on the steering does not change.
