UN R106 Supplement 22 (00 series) · UNECE Regulation No. 106 (ECE R106) — Uniform provisions concerning the approval of pneumatic tyres for agricultural vehicles and their trailers.
UN R106 — Supplement 22 to the 00 series of amendments
Supplement 21 → 22
- What changed
- Paragraph 1.1. now says tyres “designed primarily” for agricultural and forestry vehicles in categories T, R and S, in place of “designed primarily, but not only,”.
- A new footnote to paragraph 1.1. says that this Regulation defines requirements for tyres as a component. It does not limit their installation on any categories of vehicles.
- Paragraph 3.1.5.3. covers implement tyres for mixed applications of speed category symbol D or E with equal service descriptions for “trailer” and “traction” applications. If the application symbols are not omitted, they must now be marked as shown in the new examples.
- Why
- The proposed amendment to paragraph 3.1.5.3. clarifies how to mark the tyre if the relevant application symbols are not omitted.
- Paragraph 1.1. and its new footnote clarify a point about tyres as a component. Such a tyre can also be fitted to vehicles of categories other than the one it was primarily designed for.
Q1What changed5 changes
“Designed primarily” wording and new footnote on tyres as a component (para. 1.1.)
Paragraph 1.1. says this UN Regulation applies to new pneumatic tyres designed primarily for agricultural and forestry vehicles in categories T, R and S. Before, it said “designed primarily, but not only,”. A new footnote to paragraph 1.1. says that this Regulation defines requirements for tyres as a component. It also says that the Regulation does not limit their installation on any categories of vehicles.
Reference to R.E.3. in a footnote (para. 1.1.)
A footnote to paragraph 1.1. now refers to the Consolidated Resolution on the Construction of Vehicles (R.E.3.), “as amended”. Before, it referred to document ECE/TRANS/WP.29/78/Rev.6, para. 2., and gave a web address.
Marking of application symbols on implement tyres for mixed applications (para. 3.1.5.3.)
Paragraph 3.1.5.3. now applies to implement tyres for mixed applications of speed category symbol D or E. Where the service descriptions for “trailer” and “traction” applications are equal, the application symbols may be omitted. In that case, only one service description may be marked on the tyre sidewalls. If the application symbols are not omitted, they must be marked as shown in the new examples. Before, the paragraph did not name a speed category symbol, and it said “the relevant application symbols”. It did not say how to mark the application symbols when they are not omitted.

- Working party
- GRBP, 83rd session (February 2026)
Reasons
Implement tyres of speed category symbol D and E for mixed applications must have the same load index for free rolling and drive wheel application. The proposed amendment clarifies how to mark the tyre if the relevant application symbols are not omitted.
