Q1What changed9 changes
ADS user and vehicle user (paras. 2.10. and 2.11.)
New paragraph 2.10. defines “ADS user” as a human user of an Automated Driving System, as defined in UN Regulation No. [ADS]. New paragraph 2.11. defines “vehicle user” as a driver or ADS user, in the context of this Regulation.
Period of petrol use and the vehicle user
The predetermined period of petrol use at engine start cannot be changed by the vehicle user. Before this supplement, these paragraphs said “driver”. For vehicles approved with the WLTC cycle, the same change applies in two more LPG paragraphs. The new text of paragraph 6.2.2.4.1.6.1. does not include the heading “Engine starting-up”.
Malfunction indication during the Type I test on petrol
Item (b) now says “original malfunction indication (MI)” instead of “original malfunction indicator (MI)”. The MI must still activate when any original emission-related component is electrically disconnected during a Type I test on petrol.
References to R.E.3 Revision 8 (footnotes)
Two footnotes now refer to document ECE/TRANS/WP.29/78/Rev.8 (R.E.3) and to new UNECE web addresses. One footnote is on the definitions in R.E.3. The other is on the distinguishing numbers of the Contracting Parties in Annex 3 to R.E.3.
