UN R157 Supplement 1 (01 series) · UNECE Regulation No. 157 (ECE R157) — Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to Automated Lane Keeping Systems.
UN R157 — Supplement 1 to the 01 series of amendments
Base text → Supplement 1
- What changed
- In the list of occurrences of paragraph 8.2.1., item (n) is now “Abortion of Lane Change Manoeuvre” instead of “Abortion of Lane Change Procedure”.
- Paragraph 8.2.2. now applies to occurrence flags for (l) and (o) of paragraph 8.2.1. They are only required to be stored if they happen either within 30 seconds before the listed occurrences or 5 seconds before a system override.
- Paragraph 8.2.3. now applies to occurrence flags for (m) and (p) of paragraph 8.2.1. They are only required to be stored if they happen within 30 seconds before the listed occurrences.
- Why
- The proposal aims to clarify that flag (n) of paragraph 8.2.1. is linked to the abortion of the lane change manoeuvre, not the procedure.
- An abortion of a lane change procedure before the lane marking is crossed is seen as regular operation of the system. It does not need to be recorded in the DSSAD.
- The changes to paragraphs 8.2.2. and 8.2.3. aim to resolve a contradiction in the provisions and add additional clarification.
Q1What changed12 changes
Lane change manoeuvre instead of procedure (paras. 2.27. and 8.2.1.)
Paragraph 2.27. now defines an “aborted lane change manoeuvre” as an LCM which is not completed and results in the vehicle returning to its original lane of travel. Before this change, the defined term was “aborted lane change” and the text said “LCP” instead of “LCM”. An LCM (Lane Change Manoeuvre) is part of the LCP (Lane Change Procedure). In the list of occurrences of paragraph 8.2.1., item (n) is now “Abortion of Lane Change Manoeuvre” instead of “Abortion of Lane Change Procedure”. Items (k) and (m) of this list now end with a semicolon instead of a full stop.
Storage conditions for flags (l) and (o) (para. 8.2.2.)
Paragraph 8.2.2. now applies to occurrence flags for (l) and (o) of paragraph 8.2.1. They are only required to be stored if they happen either within 30 seconds before the listed occurrences or 5 seconds before a system override. Before this change, paragraph 8.2.2. applied to the flags for (l), (m), (o) and (p). The words “or within 5 seconds before a system override” are new in this paragraph. In its list of occurrences, item (c) is now “Abortion of Lane Change Manoeuvre” instead of “Abortion of Lane Change Procedure”.
Storage conditions for flags (m) and (p) (para. 8.2.3.)
Paragraph 8.2.3. now applies to occurrence flags for (m) and (p) of paragraph 8.2.1. They are only required to be stored if they happen within 30 seconds before the listed occurrences. The listed occurrences are “Start of Emergency Manoeuvre”, “Involved in a detected collision” and “EDR trigger input”. Before this change, paragraph 8.2.3. applied to the flags for (l). These were only required to be stored if they happened within 5 seconds before a system override.
