Base text → Supplement 1

Adopted at the WP.29 175th sessionEntry into force 2018-12-29
What changed
  • Paragraph 5.2.10. now also allows the disconnection of the braking surfaces of the parking braking system to be controlled from a remote control device. This device must be part of a system fulfilling the ACSF of Category A requirements of UN Regulation No. 79 (02 or later series).
  • After switch-off and/or key removal, paragraph 5.2.19.4. now also allows parking braking system release as part of an operation of a remote control system. That system must fulfil the ACSF of Category A requirements of UN Regulation No. 79 (02 or later series).
Why
  • The text is based on GRRF-86-16-Rev.1, with provisions related to the introduction of Remote Controlled Parking (RCP) in UN Regulation No. 79.

Q1What changed3 changes

Disconnection of the braking surfaces of the parking braking system (para. 5.2.10.)

The disconnection of the braking surfaces of the parking braking system can now also be controlled from a remote control device. Before this supplement, the disconnection had to be controlled exclusively by the driver from his driving seat. The disconnection must still be controlled by a system incapable of being brought into action by a leak. The remote control device must be part of a system fulfilling the technical requirements of an ACSF of Category A. These requirements are specified in the 02 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 79 or later series of amendments.

Disconnection of the braking surfaces of the parking braking system shall be permitted only on condition that the disconnection is controlled exclusively by the driver from his driving seat or from a remote control device, by a system incapable of being brought into action by a leak.
The remote control device mentioned above shall be part of a system fulfilling the technical requirements of an ACSF of Category A as specified in the 02 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 79 or later series of amendments.

Release of the parking braking system as part of a remote control system operation (para. 5.2.19.4.)

Paragraph 5.2.19.4. applies after the ignition/start switch which controls the electrical energy for the braking equipment has been switched off and/or the key removed. Then it must remain possible to apply the parking braking system, but releasing must be prevented. However, the parking braking system may now also be released when this action is part of an operation of a remote control system. The remote control system must fulfil the technical requirements of an ACSF of Category A. These requirements are specified in the 02 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 79 or later series of amendments.

However, the parking braking system may also be released when this action is part of an operation of a remote control system fulfilling the technical requirements of an ACSF of Category A as specified in the 02 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 79 or later series of amendments.
