Q1What changed3 changes

UN Regulations listed for U-IWVTA (Annex 4, Part A, Section I)

The Annex 4 list gives a later series for UN Regulations Nos. 16, 17, 46, 48, 79, 94, 95, 100, 134, 137 and 154. For example, the entry for UN Regulation No. 100 changes from the 03 series to the 05 series. UN Regulation No. 173 (installation of safety-belts, restraints system, CRS) is new in the list, with the 00 series. UN Regulation No. 174 (safety-belt reminders) is also new, with the 00 series. The topic of UN Regulation No. 16 is now “Safety-belts and restraint systems”, without child restraint systems and ISOFIX child restraint systems. The notes under the list no longer have the heading “Notes:”, and some punctuation and wording change.

Notes: Safety-belts, restraint systems, child restraint systems and ISOFIX child restraint systems Safety-belts and restraint systems 0910 1112 0607 Installation of lighting and light-signaling light-signalling devices 0809 0405 0405 0506 0305 Enhanced Child Restraint Systems used on board of motor vehicles (only in as much inasmuch as it relates to built-in "specific vehicle booster seats" but not covering standalone child seats) 0002 0203 0304 Installation of safety-belts, restraints system, CRS 173 00 Safety-belt reminders 174 00 1 If a UN Regulation number is followed by an asterisk "*" this indicates that the respective requirement applies only if the corresponding system is fitted to the vehicle. This then means that for the purpose of a U-IWVTA both vehicles with or without this system are acceptable. However, where the system is fitted to the vehicle, the requirement applies. The same also applies to systems not identified by "*" * where it can be demonstrated that the corresponding requirements are not applicable to the IWVTA type. 4 The series of amendments indicated in Annex 4 is without prejudice to the transitional provisions in the respective series of UN Regulations. (See UN Regulation No. 0, para. paragraph 12.2, and 13.1).)

Acceptance of the 09 series and of earlier series (paras. 12.15. and 12.16.)

From the entry into force of the 09 series, Contracting Parties applying this UN Regulation must not refuse to grant or accept 09 series IWVTAs. From 1 September 2027, Contracting Parties applying this Regulation need not accept type approvals to an earlier series first issued after that date.

As from the official date of entry into force of the 09 series of amendments, no Contracting Party applying this UN Regulation shall refuse to grant or refuse to accept an IWVTA issued pursuant to this Regulation as amended by the 09 series of amendments.
As from 1 September 2027, Contracting Parties applying this Regulation shall not be obliged to accept type approvals to any of the preceding series of amendments, first issued after 1 September 2027.
