Road surface of the test site to ISO 10844:2014 (Annex 3, para. 1.2.1.)

The road surface covering of the test site must conform to ISO 10844:2014. Before this supplement, it had to conform to the requirements of Annex 4 or to ISO 10844:2014.

On the test site the variations in the free sound field between the sound source at the centre of the acceleration section and the microphone shall be maintained to within 1 dB(A). This condition will be deemed to be met if there are no large objects which reflect sound, such as fences, rocks, bridges or buildings, within 50 m of the centre of the acceleration section. The road surface covering of the test site shall conform to the requirements of Annex 4 or to ISO10844:2014.

Type approvals and extensions to a preceding series (paras. 12.3. and 12.4.)

Paragraph 12.3. now says that Contracting Parties may grant type approvals according to any preceding series of amendments. New paragraph 12.4. says that they must continue to grant extensions of existing approvals to any preceding series of amendments. In both paragraphs, the specification of the test track may conform to ISO 10844:2014. Before this supplement, paragraph 12.3. said that Contracting Parties must not refuse to grant extensions of approval in accordance with the preceding series of amendments. These extensions had to be conducted on the test site of Annex 4 or ISO 10844:2014. A new note by the secretariat says that the wording was adjusted in line with the decision of WP.29 at its November 2020 session.

Annex 4 no longer has paragraphs 1. to 6.2. These paragraphs gave the required characteristics of the surface, the test surface design and the test method. They also gave the stability in time and maintenance, and the documentation of the test surface and of tests performed on it. Figure 2 and Table 1 are also deleted. The footnote to the title, the footnote to paragraph 1. and the footnote to paragraph 2.2. are deleted. One of them said that the test site specifications in this Annex were valid until the end of the period in paragraph 12.9.
