Q1What changed3 changes

UN Regulation No. 129 approval number and UN Regulation No. 170 approval mark (paras. 3.5 and 5.2.)

Paragraph 3.5 now says that an ECRS must not bear more than one UN Regulation No. 129 approval number. Before this supplement, it said “more than one approval number”, without the Regulation number. This provision does not apply for the purpose of approving a module as part of different ECRSs. Paragraph 5.2. adds that a type of Enhanced Child Restraint System approved according to this Regulation can bear a UN Regulation No. 170 approval mark. Paragraph 5.2. also says that such a type must not bear another approval mark according to UN Regulation No. 44 (Child Restraint Systems).

an An ECRS shall not bear more than one UN Regulation No. 129 approval number. This provision does not apply for the purpose of approving a module as part of different ECRSs.
A type of Enhanced Child Restraint System approved according to this Regulation can bear an approval mark according to UN Regulation No. 170.

First two digits of the approval number (para. 5.2.)

Paragraph 5.2. says that the first two digits of the approval number must indicate a series of amendments. This is the series incorporating the most recent major technical amendments made to this Regulation at the time of issue of the approval. The amendment deletes the words “(at present 04 corresponding to the 04 series of amendments)” from this sentence.

An approval number shall be assigned to each type approved. Its first two digits (at present 04 corresponding to the 04 series of amendments) shall indicate the series of amendments incorporating the most recent major technical amendments made to this Regulation at the time of issue of the approval. The same Contracting Party shall not assign the same number to another type of Enhanced Child Restraint System covered by this Regulation.
