Why
  • GTB proposed to correct the CoP values.

Q1What changed7 changes

Point 50L in Tables 18, 21 and 24 (Class C, V and W bend lighting, Category 1)

At point 50L, Tables 18, 21 and 24 no longer give maximum values. In Tables 18 and 21, the 20% and 30% CoP minimum values are now 1,360 cd and 1,190 cd. The note on the maximum value under Tables 18 and 21, and note 2 under Table 24, are deleted. The official text amends “Row 18” of Table 18, which has no row 18; RegVault applies it to row 13 and shows a RegVault Note.

Note to Table 18: 1 The maximum value may be multiplied by 1.4, if it is guaranteed according to the manufacturer’s description that this value will not be exceeded in use, either by means of the system or, if the system’s use is confined to vehicles, providing a corresponding stabilization/limitation of the system’s supply, as indicated in the communication form. 17001,700 132001 28401,360 158401 24851,190 171601
Note to Table 21: 1 The maximum value may be multiplied by 1.4, if it is guaranteed according to the manufacturer’s description that this value will not be exceeded in use, either by means of the system or, of the system’s use is confined to vehicles, providing a corresponding stabilization/limitation of the system’s supply, as indicated in the communication form. 17001,700 132001 28401,360 158401 24851,190 171601

Point HV in Tables 30 and 31 (Class R driving beam)

At point HV in Tables 30 and 31, the 20% and 30% CoP minimum values are now 25,920 cd and 22,680 cd. Before, they were 26,000 cd and 23,000 cd.

Q2Why it changed

Proposed by
Experts from the International Automotive Lighting and Light-Signalling Expert Group (GTB)
Working party
GRE, 94th session (April 2026)

Reasons

  • GTB proposed to correct the CoP values.

    Sources (2)
“The proposed amendment is intended to correct the CoP values.”
“The expert from GTB proposed correcting the CoP values”
  • Proposer's reason (informal document GRE-94-10-Rev.1)

The type-approval requirements of Classes C, V and W bending mode have no maximum at point 50L. However, the CoP tables of Class C, V and W Bend Light Category 1 showed maximum values there, so these maximum values should be deleted.

Submitted by Experts from GTB. Working party adoption: ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/94, para. 30.

    Sources (2)
“For the type-approval requirements of Classes C, V and W bending mode (i.e. Table 9, Part B) there is no maximum at point 50L.”
“These maximum values should be deleted.”
  • Proposer's reason (informal document GRE-94-10-Rev.1)

In Tables 18 and 21, the 0% CoP minimum value at point 50L is 1,700 cd. So the 20% and 30% CoP minimum values should be 1,360 cd and 1,190 cd.

Submitted by Experts from GTB. Working party adoption: ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/94, para. 30.

    Source
“as the 0% CoP minimum value at point 50L is 1,700 cd, the correct CoP minimum values should be: 1,360 cd (20% CoP) instead of 2,840 cd, and 1,190 cd (30% CoP) instead of 2,485 cd.”
  • Proposer's reason (informal document GRE-94-10-Rev.1)

In Table 23, the 0% CoP maximum value at Segment 10 was given as 12,300 cd instead of 7,100 cd. This error also affected the 20% and 30% values.

Submitted by Experts from GTB. Working party adoption: ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/94, para. 30.

    Sources (2)
“In Table 23 for Class W non-bending mode, at Segment 10, the 0% CoP maximum value is incorrectly given as 12,300 cd instead of 7,100 cd.”
“As this error also affected the calculated 20% and 30% values”
  • Proposer's reason (informal document GRE-94-10-Rev.1)

In Tables 30 and 31, the CoP minimum values at point HV are based on 32,400 cd. So they are 25,920 cd and 22,680 cd, not 26,000 cd and 23,000 cd.

Submitted by Experts from GTB. Working party adoption: ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRE/94, para. 30.

    Source
“at point HV the accurate CoP minimum values based on 32,400 cd are 25,920 cd (20% CoP) and 22,680 cd (30% CoP) respectively, instead of 26,000 cd and 23,000 cd.”
