UN R148 Supplement 4 (01 series) · UNECE Regulation No. 148 (ECE R148) — Uniform provisions concerning the approval of light-signalling devices (lamps) for power-driven vehicles and their trailers.
UN R148 — Supplement 4 to the 01 series of amendments
Supplement 3 → 4
- What changed
- Paragraph 3.3.1.2. no longer says “in part 1 of Annex 7” for the value “a” of the approval marking, which must be at least 5 mm.
- Paragraph 3.3.1.2. has a new Figure I, and the Unique Identifier figure of paragraph 3.3.3.1. is now Figure II.
- Figure A7-I in Annex 7 no longer has the line “a = see Par. 3.3.1.2.1. of this Regulation”.
- Why
- The expert from GTB proposed to correct a wrong reference for the determination of the approval marking size.
- The ratio explanations a, a/2 and a/3 can be deleted from Figure A7-I, because Figure I under paragraph 3.3.1.2. now gives them.

In paragraph 3.3.3.1., the figure of the Unique Identifier (UI) is now Figure II. Before this supplement, it was Figure I.

Reasons
Figure A7-I in Annex 7 had a wrong link to the value “a” of the approval marking size. GTB considered several alternatives and presented the most suitable one.

The proposal follows the Unique Identifier approach of paragraph 3.3.3.1.: one approval marking example in the body text, other arrangements in Annex 7.
