“The expert from Japan introduced GRSP-71-04 on facilitating the administration of the two-stage requirements introduced in the 03 series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 127.”
  • Proposer's reason (informal document GRSP-71-04)

In the 03 series, two levels of stringency for the wrap around distance (WAD) boundary of the bonnet top test area will be approved. These levels may be identified only by the notice of approval in accordance with Annex 1, part 2.

  • Proposer's reason (informal document GRSP-71-04)

For typical type approval procedures such as IWVTA or EU WVTA, UN type approval numbers are generally used to identify each system approval's stringency level. Therefore, it is desired to allow identification of the stringency level only by the approval numbers.

  • Proposer's reason (informal document GRSP-71-04)

In general, Schedule 4 of the Agreement (E/ECE/TRANS/505/Rev.3) should be referred to for the assignment of approval numbers. According to paragraph 3. of Schedule 4, section 2 of an approval number may include one or two characters indicating the implementation stages.

  • Proposer's reason (informal document GRSP-71-04)

With Revision 3 of the Agreement, approvals to any preceding series of amendments may be issued. But with paragraph 4.2. as it was, the number indicating the latest series of amendments will be assigned regardless of the series approved. This issue should be resolved by referring to Schedule 4 of the Agreement.
