UN R127 Supplement 2 (04 series) · UNECE Regulation No. 127 (ECE R127) — Uniform provisions concerning the approval of motor vehicles with regard to their pedestrian safety performance.
UN R127 — Supplement 2 to the 04 series of amendments
Supplement 1 → 2
- What changed
- Paragraph 2.49. now divides the windscreen test area into thirds “by the lines passing through the third markings of the lines from P to P' and from Q to Q'”.
- New text sets the “Q point” if lines (b) and (c) have no unique intersection, or if “there is no intersection between (b) and (c) and the open test area is closed by a connecting line”.
- In Figure 13, the upper corner is now named Q instead of R, and Figure 14 is updated.
- Why
- The proposal was prepared to clarify the definition of the “third of windscreen”.
- The proposal also corrects the names of the upper corners in Figure 13 as Q and Q’ instead of R and R’.
Q1What changed7 changes
“One third of the windscreen test area” and new Figure 17 (paragraph 2.49.)
Paragraph 2.49. now defines “One third of the windscreen test area” instead of “Third of the windscreen test area”. It means the area between the side boundaries of the windscreen test area as defined in paragraph 2.44.(c), divided “by the lines passing through the third markings of the lines from P to P' and from Q to Q' (the upper corner points of the windscreen test area)”, as shown in Figure 17. All lines are to be drawn and the three equal parts measured with a flexible tape following the outer contour of the windscreen. Before, it was the geometric trace of the area between the lateral boundaries, measured on any transverse section and divided in three equal parts. New Figure 17 shows the thirds of the windscreen test area.
The “Q point” when lines (b) and (c) have no unique intersection or no intersection
If there is no unique “Q point” where the lines (b) and (c) of paragraph 2.44. intersect, it is defined by “the first contact of a vertical plane V45, intersecting the vertical longitudinal vehicle centre-plane at an angle of 45°, with the (b)-(c) transition of the windscreen test area boundary”. If (b) and (c) do not intersect and a connecting line closes the open test area, the “Q point” is the centre of this connecting line.
Corner name in Figure 13 and updated Figure 14 (paragraphs 2.44. and 2.45.)
In Figure 13 of paragraph 2.44., the upper corner is now named Q instead of R. Figure 14 of paragraph 2.45., on the lateral limits of the cowl monitoring area, is replaced with an updated image.
