  • The paragraph now says “power-driven vehicles”, “a trailer / multiple trailers”, “the power-driven vehicle” and “the laden combination of vehicles”.

  • The Russian Federation proposed to insert in the 12, 13 and 14 series provisions similar to those of Supplement 18 to the 11 series.

Q1What changed1 change

Parking braking of a laden combination of vehicles on a 12 per cent gradient (Annex 4, para. 2.3.2.)

Annex 4, paragraph 2.3.2. applies to power-driven vehicles to which the coupling of a trailer / multiple trailers is authorized. The parking braking system of the power-driven vehicle must be capable of holding the laden combination stationary on a 12 per cent up or down-gradient. Before, the paragraph said “vehicles” instead of “power-driven vehicles” and “a trailer” instead of “a trailer / multiple trailers”. It also said “the towing vehicle” instead of “the power-driven vehicle” and “the combination of vehicles” without the word “laden”. The 12 per cent up or down-gradient did not change.

On power-driven vehicles to which the coupling of a trailer / multiple trailers is authorized, the parking braking system of the towing power-driven vehicle shall be capable of holding the laden combination of vehicles stationary on a 12 per cent up or down-gradient.
