UN R79 — Supplement 2 to the 04 series of amendments
Supplement 1 → 2
- What changed
- For ACSF of Category B1, paragraph 5.6.2.2.3. now says that the system must avoid sudden loss of steering support. It must do this by continuing to provide assistance to the extent possible as outlined in the safety concept of the vehicle manufacturer.
- Before this supplement, the text required the system to continue to provide assistance.
- The conditions of paragraph 5.6.2.2.3. and the warning signals to the driver do not change.
- Why
- The amendment aims to clarify the text on continued support of an Automatically Commanded Steering Function of Category B1 if the boundary conditions are exceeded.
- Under certain circumstances, the lane may no longer be recognized, and a continuation of support may no longer be possible or reasonable.
- The revised proposal adds the required clarification on what level of assistance can be expected when all three conditions of paragraph 5.6.2.2.3. are met.
Q1What changed1 change
Assistance when an ACSF of Category B1 reaches its boundary conditions (para. 5.6.2.2.3.)
Paragraph 5.6.2.2.3. applies when the system reaches its boundary conditions set out in paragraph 5.6.2.3.1.1. In addition, there is no driver input to the steering control, and any front tyre of the vehicle starts to cross the lane marking. In this case, the system must now avoid sudden loss of steering support. It must do this by continuing to provide assistance to the extent possible as outlined in the safety concept of the vehicle manufacturer. Before this supplement, the text required the system to continue to provide assistance. The system must still clearly inform the driver by an optical warning signal and additionally by an acoustic or haptic warning signal.
