Q2Why it changed

Proposed by
Expert from the European Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association
Working party
GRSG, 115th session (October 2018)

Reasons

  • The proposal was prepared to simplify and adapt the provisions of UN Regulation No. 67 to technical progress. This was in particular for the definition of a type of container and Annex 2B. GRSG adopted the proposal except the amendments to paragraph 2.4.

“to simplify and adapt the provisions of UN Regulation No. 67 to technical progress, in particular the definition of a type of container and Annex 2B”
“GRSG adopted ECE/TRANS/WP.29/GRSG/2018/20 except the amendments to paragraph 2.4.”
  • The proposal does not add the variant and version items that the expert from Poland proposed. It says that they would create a precedent in UN Regulation No. 67 compared to other UN Regulations. It also says that this will result in an administrative burden for the manufacturer without any improvement in safety.

“The insertion of variant/versions (as proposed by the expert from Poland) would create a precedent in UN Regulation No. 67 compared to other UN Regulations.”
“it will result in an administrative burden for the manufacturer (increased paper work) without any improvement in the safety”
  • The proposal says that a type/variant/version classification is usually typical for vehicles and not for components. It says that, in this case, only the type designation and pressure class should reasonably be added.
